Elizabeth Ann Townsend

Mrs. Townsend was born July 30, 1949, daughter of the late Alfred Franklin Cherry and Mary Savinski Cherry. She had lived in Charlotte most of her life and retired from Carolinas Healthcare System, where she worked as a Registered Nurse for over 25 years. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Shelton Townsend, Sr.; and by a brother, Paul Cherry.

Survivors include her children, Ken (Nancy) Townsend of Marshville, NC and Laura (Alex) Bishy of Matthews, NC; and her grandchildren, Travis Townsend, Kacie Townsend, Bishoy Bishy, and Demianna Bishy.

The family will gather at the funeral home to receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church (7002 Pleasant Hill Church Rd, Marshville, NC 28103) with Pastor John Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens.

Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Hospice of Union County (700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110) in memory of Elizabeth Ann Townsend.
