Elizabeth Hedgepeth, daughter of the late Buster and Catherine Henderson, was born on October 13, 1934, in Camden, South Carolina and raised in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. She transitioned from this life to glory on February 15, 2015 at her home in Mint Hill, North Carolina surrounded by family and friends.
Married on February 27, 1960 to Jesse C. Hedgepeth (deceased) they lived in Westfield and Scotch Plains, New Jersey before relocating to Mint Hill, North Carolina in 2005.
Elizabeth, affectionately known as ‘Leah’, Liz and ‘Nana’ was a loving house wife and retiree from Johnson and Johnson. She founded her own travel services business, TravelersDream, which offered her the opportunity to fulfill her passion for travel and leisure. She loved meeting new people and experiencing new things so she joined the Red Hat Society.
Elizabeth leaves behind her loving children, Regina D. Sam, David (Michael), and Lynne. She was blessed with four grandchildren Michael (Kyle), Catherine, Antoine, and Kayla and 1 great-grand child Harmony, and her beloved family pet Baxter.
She is survived by her siblings, Willie Mae Brown, Arthur Henderson, Ruth Nelson, Louise Keets and was preceded in death by her sister Catherine Robinson.
Elizabeth will always be treasured for her role as wife, mother, sister, nana, aunt and friend. Her fabulous sense of style, her smile, her laugh, her heart for giving to and helping others – let that be her testimony.
