A native of Rockingham, North Carolina, Doris was the daughter of the late William and Sadie Player. She was a graduate of Rockingham High School and Kings Business College. Doris was a homemaker for most of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Buddy Player.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Graham; two sons, Ken Pierce and his wife, Sue, of Greer, South Carolina and Keith Pierce of Buffalo, New York; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm Monday, April 12, 2021, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend John Harrill officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
