Mrs. Dryden was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Dryden was a servant of God who attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte. She was known to many as “Mama D”. She was one of the founding members for GEMS (God Embracing Mothers). Mrs. Dryden dedicated many hours serving in the Church Kitchen. She had a passion for traveling with her husband throughout the world sharing their love for Christ.
Mrs. Dryden is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Elmer J. Dryden of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her children, Douglas H. Gibson of Tampa, FL, Connie R. Grundmann of Boiling Springs, SC, Deborah D. Andrews of Blairsville, GA, Michael J. Dryden of Chester, SC and Stephen J. Dryden of Brandon, FL; and seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Dryden was predeceased by her five brothers, Uriah Phillips, Jr., Marvin A. Phillips, H.B. Phillips, Neal Phillips and David C. Phillips.
A service to celebrate Mrs. Dryden's life will be held 11:00 am Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Harris Campus, 7200 East W.T. Harris Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28215. The Reverend Clint Pressley and the Reverend John Harrill will officiating. The family will greet friends following the service while practicing social distancing. Burial will be at a later date in Selma, AL.
In lieu of flowers, it is Mrs. Dryden’s wish that donations be made to Hearts and Hammers Ministry at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC. Please notate your donation is in her memory.
