David James Boik

David (Dave) James Boik 77 born on Sept. 2, 1940, a resident of Mint Hill, NC, passed away on December 18, 2017 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with Renal Kidney Cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years Roberta (Bobbie) Boik, a daughter, Kim Brueckner, a son Douglas Boik and his wife Dianne Boik, a son Darin Boik and a daughter-in-law Kimberly Boik as well as six grandchildren, Ashley Race, her husband Bobby Race, Bryant Brueckner, Katie Boik, Hunter Boik, Alyssa Boik and Lindsay Boik and many relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Hilda (Much) Boik and siblings, Jeanette, Earl, Harland and Butch.

Dave was born in Taylor, Michigan on Sept. 2, 1940. His parents, George and Hilda Boik owned Meadow Lanes, the first local bowling alley. Dave spent much time growing up by helping his parents operate the business and there as luck would have it, met his Bride Bobbie who were married on February 5th, 1966.

Dave attended Taylor High School and graduated in 1958. After graduation he joined the Army and served 4 years stationed at Munich, Germany. After returning home he obtained a degree at Wayne County Community College and then started his career in sales selling heavy construction equipment. Always a top producer, he and Bobbie were awarded several trips to travel abroad. Dave enjoyed spending time at the family vacation home on Houghton Lake, Michigan where he learned to become a trick water skier for the amusement of family and friends and spent much enjoyment with family fishing, boating and hunting.

After raising his three children in Huron Michigan, in 1986 he chose to relocate his family to Charlotte, NC. Eventually retiring in Charlotte he continued to enjoy his family and pursue his passion of playing golf at Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation. In addition to golf, Dave believed in staying fit and could often be found exercising at the Monroe Aquatics and Fitness Center or taking dance lessons with his wife Bobbie and enjoying friends and events at St. Luke Catholic Church.

A memorial service will be held Saturday January 6th at 10:00AM at St. Luke Catholic Church in Mint Hill. Immediately following the service his family welcomes you to join them for a light luncheon in the reception hall of St. Luke Catholic Church to celebrate Dave’s happy, fun loving life!
