MATTHEWS- Carolyn Petty, 61,
passed away peacefully surrounded
by her family on June 30th after a
brief illness. She was a loving wife
and mother. We will miss her kind
and gracious spirit and her flair for
hospitality. She loved dogs and
rescued many over the years.
Carolyn was a math teacher for 35
years and was greatly loved by her
students. She taught at McClintock
MS, Randolph MS, Providence HS,
Audrey Kell HS, and Marvin Ridge
HS. After retiring, she tutored
students in math.
She was preceded in death by her
mother, Dorothy Wingate Granger,
her father, Col. Lloyd C. Granger
and her step-mother, Wylma Granger.
Those left to cherish her memory are
her husband of 40 years, Tim Petty,
son, Chase Petty, sisters Jackie Russell
and husband Kipper, Alisa Swinderman,
Kathy Jackson and husband Chris,
and Victoria Elizabeth Kimberlin,
brother Gary Hagler and wife Jean,
several nieces and nephews and other
family members, friends, and former students.
A service to celebrate her life will
be held at 4:00pm on Thursday
July 5 at McEwen Funeral Home
in Mint Hill. A gathering will be
held after the service at the Petty
home. Condolences may be offered
