Bruce Hamilton Blevins, Jr., of Mint Hill, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 8, 2014, at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center. He was 68 years old. Born September 6, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a son of the late Bruce Hamilton Blevins and Sarah Evelyn Brown Blevins.
Bruce was a graduate of Woodlawn High School in Baltimore. He retired from Bellsouth after 37 years of service. Bruce had a passion for travel, history and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Libby Blevins; his children, Jenna Jongquist and her husband, Kyle, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, and Scott Blevins and his wife, Dee, of Midland; his three grandchildren, Hannah Jongquist, Luke Jongquist, and Brady Blevins; and his brother, James Blevins.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, with a funeral service immediately following at 12 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews.
