Bobby Earl Capps, of Matthews, North Carolina, was born July 10, 1934 in Johnston County, NC and passed on to heaven on October 21, 2014. He was the son of the late Joseph Earl and Creola Creech Capps.
Bobby attended NC State and UNC-Chapel Hill. He retired from the City of Charlotte Real Estate Division after 25 years of service.
Bobby had a wonderful singing voice and loved gospel music. Spending time with his family and friends was Bobby’s greatest joy in life.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sandra Jean Walls and two brothers, Charles Dean and Joseph Billy Capps.
He is survived by his children, Stanley Capps and wife, Nancy, of Fort Mill, SC, Alan Capps and wife, Kathy, of Matthews, NC and Karen Capps Gahagan and husband, Patrick, of Overland Park, Kansas. He is also survived by two brothers, Jimmy D. Capps of Mt. Pleasant, NC and Joseph Earl Capps, Jr. of Durham, NC; as well as five grandchildren, Taylor Capps, Douglas Capps and wife, Brittainey, Erin Gahagan, Reed Capps and Aubrey Gahagan, who all loved their Pop dearly.
A memorial service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 24, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family following the service at the funeral home.
