Vernon A. Larson

Age 89, originally of St. Anthony Village, died peacefully on February 28, 2014. Born on December 1, 1924 to parents Victor & Anna Larson.

Preceded in death in September by his wife of 67 yrs, Winnie; brother, Stanley; & parents.

Survived by four daughters: Jean McKenna, Nancy (Jim) Jensen, Carol (Donald) Wagner, and Laurie King; 9 grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth; many nieces & nephews.

Graduate of Robbinsdale High School in 1943 & Minnesota School of Business in 1944. Employed by Ettel & Franz Roofing & Sheet Metal Co for over 45 years, progressing from bookkeeper to estimator, manager, co-owner, and then president/owner from 1970 to 1990. First president of Twin City Roofing Association; past director positions with: St. Paul Builders Exchange, Midwest Roofing Contractors Association, National Roofing Contractors Association; and past president of the Roofing Contractors Insurance Company. Volunteered as president Nativity Lutheran Church Council & was active with VASA (a Swedish fraternal organization) John Morton Lodge: district master & secretary, chairman, grand lodge delegate, deputy, & convention chairman. Awarded the John Hanson Award given by the American Swedish Cultural Foundation for excellence in public services.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 6, at Nativity Lutheran Church, 3312 Silver Lake Rd, St. Anthony. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Interment at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the church or Allina Palliative Care.
