I worked with Bob both at the Central Office of the Department of Transportation and from the Water’s Edge Building in Roseville, Minnesota.  Bob was always very kind to me and was very helpful when reviewing my appraisals.  He had suggestions that I carry with me today.  During the time I was working with Bob, my mom was Diabetic and later my son, Erik Johnson (Type 1) became Diabetic.  Bob and I shared newly learned information back and forth on new products and sugar free products that were on the market.  Our biggest discovery was sugar free cough drops (imagine that!).  Bob, we miss you.

A friend of Evelyn Hormann, sister-in-law to Bob Westling, I have visited the Westling's home for an occasional holiday dinner and one of the things I always enjoyed was the joking that took place between Bob and his brother John. You could sense a brotherhood and a love for the brother. Bob,you are missed and your presence will always be felt.

 I will always remember Bob. He was fun to talk with. Always happy with the big smile. I enjoyed listening to him talk about his work, even after retirement and the input he would give about concerns pertaining to our church. He was very knowledgeable when we worked together on auditing the books at Holy Triune Lutheran Church. I wish I knew as much as he did. 
  I can see by looking at the family photos on here the things that meant the most to Bob, Sandy, family, grandchildren and fishing. I loved seeing his expressions for each special moment.
 I will miss Bob's handshake on Sunday worship for the giving of peace.

Bob would pick me up when I was invited on trips and we would have this special time to talk before picking up Sandy's and my Mom and of course Sandy. He would help me with the computer and many other things over the years.  He always had time for me and others in his life.  I will miss him greatly.  Your sister-in-law.

Please know that your family will be in my prayers, that you may find peace and consoloation in each other, in pleasant memories, and in God.

Uncle Bob has a very special place in my heart - The holidays we shared, the wonderful food, the happiness at being together. One of my fondest memories of them was Bob having us give him his insulin before the meal - later when Christopher became a diabetic, it was not as scary because of Bob. It was just part of who Bob was and it would simply be part of who Chris is - the love and the laughter, the joy of family and the full and happy life Bob had were an inspiration for how diabetes would affect Christopher too. I will also never forget Bob driving Aunt Sandy, my Mom and Grandma to NC for Amber's wedding in 2007. It meant the world to me to have my family there and the picture attached is from that happy day. I will miss my Uncle Bob.

We have so many memories of Bob, from your wedding (or before) to the very last days of his life. He was a great brother-in-law and we will miss him; and will always especially remember his constant and unselfish caring for family. He was a very special man. I'm glad we were able to be with you both when you needed us the most. We love you.

Bob's family:  I worked with Bob at MnDOT in the early 1990's.  As a young appraiser, he spent a lot of time with me reviewing my reports, providing suggestions in a very kind way, and teaching me skills I use to this day.  He truly gave of himself, and wanted others to succeed. He was a great person, and he will be missed.  Heaven has another angel, and I know he will be keeping his watchful eye on his family. Dear Sandy,  Your good looking son came over to John to say that he remembered him as his cub leader and scout master.  This was a thrill  for John to have him recognized from so long ago.  Your son is very talented and a true son of Robert.  We are both extremely lucky to have sons that are a credit to our heritage and to our country.  We must have done something right. I worked with Bob at Mn/DOT and also over the past few years on various appraisal projects.  Bob was a sharp appraiser as well as one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I have had the blessing to know.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Sandy & Family  Sorry to hear of Bob's passing, recieved your e-mail today from Marilyn. I am down in Florida and just leaving for home. I want to offer my condolences to you and the family as I won't be able to be there but will have you in my thoughts and prayers.
