Michael John Hansen

Michael John Hansen, age 83, went home to the Lord on December 27, 2021. He began his life in ‘Nordeast’ Minneapolis and had fond memories of his childhood playing in Windom Park surrounded by a close community of family and friends. He spent his career as a beloved teacher in the Roseville school district teaching fifth/six grade for over 30 years and was awarded Teacher of the Year. He had a passion for children’s literature and was an avid reader throughout his life. He started “Grandpa Mike’s Book Club” and shared meaningful books and authors with family and friends over many years. He spent time collecting antiques, gardening, was an active member in his church and sang in the adult choir. He cherished his family heritage including Swedish and Norwegian traditions, and treasured sharing these with his family. Michael will be remembered for his quiet kindness, his love for family and his strong faith that brought him comfort and peace. He is survived by four children: David Hansen (Michelle), Heidi Shannon (Derek), Jeff Hansen (Kelly) and Jon Hansen (Devinna), 11 grandchildren (Lucas, Wyatt, Travis, Colton, Max, Sam and Lilian Hansen, Roman and Elleni Oberle, Sydnee and Ethan Ceballos) and brother Tim Hansen.
