Mary died Oct. 7, 2023 due to complications from cancer treatment. Mary was raised on a farm in Little Falls, MN, by her parents Joseph and Sarah Banick. She played a large role in helping to raise her younger siblings. Mary married David Hawk and raised two children. Mary worked as a hair stylist, care attendant, and in her later years spent time traveling. Her love of dancing to country music and fifties rock never left her. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Larry, Ronald, and Daniel. Mary is survived by her children, Chris (Alicia) and Sandra, sisters Rose, Isabell (Sam), and Marilyn, grandchildren Steven, Madison, Sarah, Nathan, and Samantha.
A memorial service for Mary will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home & Sunset Cemetery, 2250 St Anthony Boulevard NE, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55418, followed by an inurnment at 11:45 AM. A visitation will be held one hour prior at the funeral home.
