86 died peacefully of natural causes, Sunday morning February 8, 2015 in Shakopee, MN where he has been living with his son and daughter-in-law for the last two years.
He was born to Olive, and Ralph Palmer in Kansas, the oldest of 6 children. Harold was active in his church, Central United Methodist Church of Colorado Springs, where he and his wife Merry were members for 61 years. Harold worked several jobs: farming, construction at the Air Force Academy, and new home construction before he worked at Timken Roller Bearing where he worked for 29 years until his retirement. He was in the Army Reserve at Fort Carson. He was an avid fisherman, he and his wife Merry took vacations with Delmar and Carol. They traveled in their motor home with family members and to visit extended family members all over the United States. Harold never met a stranger, and he would take up a conversation with anyone, anywhere.
Family was always an important part of Harold's life. He is survived by: Merry his wife of 61 years, his son Rev. Delmar (Karen), one daughter Carolyn Hawelka (Thomas), two granddaughters Rebecca Nelson (Jeremy), Esther Gudim (Rev. Jason), three grandsons Christopher Belcher (Shiloh), Gabriel Belcher (Laurie), Nathan Palmer (Lindsey). He is survived by 4 great grandsons; Ashton Belcher, Noah Gudim, James Gudim, Milo Gudim and 4 great granddaughters; Leah Draper, Grace Gudim, Cora Nelson, and Brodie Belcher. He is survived by; one brother Eldon (Dorothy), twin sister’s Vera Beneda, Valera Coleman (Charles).
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Ila Taylor (Dale), Gladys Thomas (James).
Funeral services will be held February 12, 2015, 11:00 am at King of Glory Free Lutheran Church in Shakopee, MN. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
Interment will be in the Sunset Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Please meet at the cemetery gate at 2:30 pm on Thursday.
