Francis was born on August 24, 1926 in Dunseith, North Dakota to Frank and Rose (Azure) Poitra, the second oldest of 11 children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marie (Beaulieu) Poitra; daughter Beverly Ann; and 10 siblings.
Francis is survived by his children Dale Poitra and Tammy (Thomas) Goral; step-son Rod (Linda Fairbanks) Beaulieu; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A funeral service for Francis will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home & Sunset Cemetery, 2250 St Anthony Boulevard NE, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55418, with a visitation one hour prior, starting at 10:00 AM. Following the funeral service will be an interment at Oak Hill Cemetery, 5901 Lyndale Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55419.
