His energy for family, faith and community was inspirational to the many lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father Katherine and Albert Jacobson, sister Lois Erickstad, first wife Doris, second daughter Denise, and daughter-in-law Ann.
He is survived by his wife Sharon of 47 years, daughters Donna (Mitch) Kiffe, Sandra (Dave) Jacobson, Laura (Scotty) Feinstein, and son Douglas Jacobson; grandchildren Nicole, Geoff, Erik, Joe and Mallory; and three great-grandchildren James, Olivia and Avery.
Don graduated from University of Minnesota in Civil Engineering and worked on social equity multi-housing complexes in his early career; then as Director of Development for Bor-Son for 20 years helped to elevate senior housing to create “dignified housing that is sensitive to people’s real needs”. In retirement he continued his work with the congregation at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, enjoyed playing golf, and kept in touch with his family across the miles.
We will miss his kindness, optimistic attitude, sense of fun, and his unwavering support and quiet strength to lead his family in unity and community.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, 11000 France Ave South, Bloomington MN. Visitation at 10 AM, followed by the funeral at 11 AM.
