Born January 23, 1947 to Dale and Emma (Bader) Tanner. Carol attended North Dakota School for the Deaf, graduating valedictorian in 1966. She went on to earn a certificate as a Key Punch and Verifier Operator from Automation Institute. She worked in this industry for many years retiring in 2012 from SciCom.
Carol loved being with her family, and her grandchildren gave her the greatest happiness. Carol also enjoyed bowling, camping, crafting, puzzles, word searches, playing cards, and spending time at the lake. She was active in North Dakota Alumni Circle of the Deaf (NDACD), Minnesota Deaf Campers (MDC), Minnesota Deaf Senior Citizens (MDSC), Charles Thompson Hall, and Bread of Life Deaf (BOLD) Lutheran Church.
Carol was married to James LaRue for 46 years, until his passing in 2016. She is also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dennis Tanner. She is survived by children, Dawn (Mark) Wittwer, Brent (Corrine); grandchildren, Kylee and Katelyn Wittwer, Jordyn and Tanner LaRue; sister, Claire Sys (Tanner) and many other loving relatives and friends.
Memorial Service 11 AM on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 at Bread of Life Deaf Lutheran Church (housed within Minnehaha Communion Lutheran Church), 4101 37th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55406. Visitation one hour prior. Family is invited to the Interment at 2:00 PM at Sunset Cemetery, Minneapolis.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Bread of Life Deaf Lutheran Church in her memory.
