Bruce is survived by his wife Mary Jo, son Jeffrey and wife Diane, and grandchildren Aiden, Rose, Pearl Rawlings. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merton and Pauline Rawlings.
Bruce was born in Minneapolis in 1947. Bruce grew up in Richfield; he enjoyed a fond childhood, observing the farmlands develop into bustling post-WWII neighborhoods. He attended Winona State University where he met his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Jo. Bruce and Mary Jo built a home in Greenfield, where they proudly raised their son and spent their lives together.
Bruce had a life-long affinity for cars. In his youth, his leisure time consisted of muscle cars and drag racing. Later in life, Bruce’s passions included a plethora of car projects, often conducted in his cherished home workshop. He appreciated many hobbies and participated in countless activities. Leisure time was filled with hunting, shooting, camping and boating with dear friends. Most recently, Bruce was a long-range competitive target shooter. During retirement, he relished quality time with his family, taking planned trips while engaging in spontaneous adventures.
Bruce’s warm demeanor and infectious laughter were contagious. His sweet tooth was only rivaled by his beloved grandchildren. He was an exceptional husband, outstanding father and truly beloved grandpa.
A visitation for Bruce will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home & Sunset Cemetery, 2250 St Anthony Boulevard NE, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55418, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
