Ed worked as a police officer for the city of Bangor, Maine until his first retirement. He then went to work as a deputy at the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, where he also retired.
Ed is the founder of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle club, which he and 6 others began in 1974. It is now in 31 countries, and has over 16000 members. Ed was very proud of this club and its members. He has many many friends around the world because of this club.
Ed is survived by his wife Madeline Avery Gallant, his Daughter Sherry Gilbert and her husband Mark from Hudson, Maine. He is also survived by his Son Kevin Gallant of Kennebunk, Main, his Step-son Jimmy Parent from Brewer Main, 2 Step-daughters; Patricia Godsey from Old Orchard Beach, Main, and Gail Betts and her husband Randall Betts of Deer Isle, Maine. He is survived by 9 Grand-children, 16 Great-Grandchildren. He also has many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Jane Bernice Gallant of Bangor, Maine, and 2 brothers; Thomas of Bangor, Main and John of Bristol, Connecticut.
There will also be a memorial service in Bangor Maine, which will be announced at a later date.
