Thomas F. O'Connor

Tom was born in Bronx, NY, at the age of 14 he began his education with the Marist Brothers in Esopus, NY. Tom became Brother Dennis Patrick and received his Bachelor Degree of Science from Marist College. At the age of 28 he left the brotherhood for civilian life and continued his teaching career. He married the love of his life Joan Carey in 1961. After a storied career in education as a teacher and guidance counselor he retired from ESBOCES as an administrator in 1991.

Tom was a devout Catholic and in his earlier years was an active parishioner of St. Mark’s RC church in Shoreham where he served as an usher, and eucharistic minister. Tom had a wonderful sense of humor and was a much loved friend to many.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan, eldest daughter Mary Kathryn; and his brothers Daniel and James. He is survived by children Susan (Tom) Serpico, son Thomas (Molly), and daughter Kerin; grandchildren Gabriella, Olivia, Claire, Jack, Alexandra, Brynn, Daniel, and Mary Kathryn; and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

A visitation is planned for Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 1pm-5pm at the O.B. Davis Funeral Home in Miller Place, NY. Funeral mass at St. Mark’s Church in Shoreham, NY on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 11 am.
