She was more than just my cousin,  she was an older sister I never had. She was my go to. She picked me up when I was down, she filled every sister role one could possible do. She then became my best friend and someone I admired. Her free spirt, her sense of humor and just a few of her amazing attributes. Your spirit will live on through your girls. My heart knows yours, until we meet and laugh again I will love you always. Rest easy cuz we’ll take care of things down here 

My daughter, Laurie, was the best of me!  I am completely shattered by her loss and  there are not enough words to describe what she meant to us.  My two beautiful daughters were born a year apart and were often referred to as "Irish twins!"  Laurie would joke that she was not "planned" to which I would respond that she was the extra gift from God.  The moment she was born and was laid upon my chest with her strawberry blond peach-fuzz hair which I lovingly rubbed my cheek against became  that instantaneous moment which bonds a mother to her child.  Our bond was strong and a bit symbiotic as we often experienced an instinctual feeling when something wasn't right with the other.
Laurie possessed a natural sense for helping others with sincere empathy and compassion, a strong sense of family, felt blessed to be a mom and became courageous and resilient in all situations especially adversities.
I admired her so, especially in her career choice, that I went back to earn my masters in social work and told others "I'm following in my daughter's footsteps!"  This is who she was...she would help anyone and everyone.  She was always very independent and determined to do things her way.  She would be very creative about this and a positive solution might come about or not!  However, it was never meant to be detrimental to anyone but as her grandmother would say, "she has a mind of her own."  Laurie went through life always wearing a bright smile no matter what and was always a beacon of light for everyone she knew and loved.  She was my light, her daughters' light, her siblings' light....May She be God's Brightest Shining Light.....
I love you baby & please shine light now in my most darkest days. 


I worked with Laurie at Sagamore Children's Psychiatric. Laurie and I worked together in the Cultural Diversity Committee in 2019. She was by my side and always a supportive person. She was a brave and fearless person that had a passion for social justice. She was artistic and creative. She loved sharing with me her daughters' achievements and milestones.  I am so sad that such a beautiful soul is no longer with us. May her beautiful spirit never be forgotten. Sleep in peace my sweet friend.

 Although I did not work closely with Laurie, she was always kind and warm to me at work. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Laurie and I met in our early twenties as young social workers working with mentally ill adults in community residents settings. The first conversation we ever had she cracked a joke and I knew that we would be friends immediately. We shared everything from make up to books  to teaching materials, she was my personal hairdresser and she gave me the privilege of being her friend for 20-plus years. I was there when both of her daughters were born and love them dearly. She was always there for me when things got tough and we always refer to each other as " Sister Friend". Over the years, we became that close. We shared holidays together and sometimes we bickered or we disagreed but we always found common ground and found a way to work out our differences. When I think of her I will remember her love of photography, her quirky fun way of doing things, her infectious laughter, her amazing sense of humor and my best friend. I will miss talking on the phone or sitting in the kitchen at one of our houses talking for hours about everything from our professional and personal journeys, as we got older. I could always count on her to be there when I needed a true friend.  I will love and miss her forever.
