James J. Moley Sr., age 90, of Ridge, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and respected carpenter, James leaves behind a legacy of love and craftsmanship that touched the lives of many.
James is survived by his beloved spouse, Joyce Moley. He was the proud father of Jimmy Jr, Kathleen (Stephen), Ellie (Anthony), Terri (Chuck), Kevin, Timothy, Bridget, and Melissa (Nick). James was a cherished grandfather to Bryan, RJ, Kristy, Billy, Tommy, Marc, Luke, Nicole, Kevin Jr., Patrick, Priscilla, Gabi, Timothy Jr., Nicholas and Jade Victoria. He was also a treasured great-grandfather to Jackson, Kai, Ella, John, Trista, Blake, Kaya, Kane, Isabella, Benjamin, Carmella, Kevin, Alyssa and Jaiden.
James was a dedicated carpenter whose skilled hands built more than just structures; they built a home filled with wonderful memories for his family. His generosity was felt by all around him, whether it was through his dollar bow ties, his lavished candy store visits with his grandchildren, his extravagant bakery runs, the sharing of his hand-crafted framed puzzles, his willingness to help others with home improvement projects, his grand Christmas gifting, or any way he could bring joy to another’s day. His love of music and song touched all around him and he was at his best during a celebration, as his laughter and gregariousness would fill the room.
A visitation for James will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, located at 1001 Route 25a, Miller Place, NY 11764. There will be a funeral Mass on Friday, August 2, 2024 at St. Mark's RC Church at 10:30 am. A committal service will take place following mass on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, located in Coram, NY .
James will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
