Liz attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School in Malverne, NY and after moving to New Hartford, NY with her family, graduated from New Hartford Senior High School, where she was Co-Captain of the swim team and President of the Ecology Club. She continued her education at SUNY Oswego where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree and graduated magna cum laude. She then received her Master's Degree in Reading from Syracuse University.
Liz began her teaching career 24 years ago at Mandracchia-Sawmill Intermediate School in Commack, NY, where she taught reading grades 3-5. She was a beloved teacher who motivated her students to excel. She brought joy and creativity to her classroom each day. Elizabeth was respected and loved by her friends and colleagues in school and served on many committees and in many programs throughout her career- Sunshine Committee, Literacy Committee, Dabble in Scrabble Club, SBMT Chairperson, and Coordinator of Schoolwide Reading Initiatives. Liz was a lover of picture books and was always eager to share a new read aloud.
Elizabeth met her college sweetheart, John at SUNY Oswego and they married on June 12, 2004. Oswego is where she included many of her current friendships, while forming new ones into a group with an inseparable bond despite time and distance. Liz and John have two sons, Sean Martin and Brennan Patrick. From the moment she became a mother, her boys became the center of her life and the focus of everything she did. She was proud of the young men they have become with many accomplishments in academics, athletics, and creative talent. Liz loved the beach and considered it her happy place. She baked amazing cakes for her boys' birthdays. You could always find Elizabeth as a proud mom at one of her boys' games or meets - football, lacrosse, track, or basketball. She loved listening to her son sing in the chorus and perform in the school play. She worked with other sports moms, leading to lasting friendships all while helping to feed the boys, raise funds for their teams, and always cheering them on during games. Lizzie was a doggie mom to Hagen, Sully, and Stella.
