Wayne was born October 10, 1934 to Frank Ronald Goodman and Mary Stevenson Goodman at the Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Wayne attended and graduated from Granite Highschool. After high school Wayne served as a supply sergeant in the U.S. Army in Anchorage Alaska. On the base he had a talent for acquiring difficult to find supplies.
After the army Wayne found his loving wife of now 63 years, Jeanene Lucille Taylor. They were sealed in the Salt Lake temple by Spencer W. Kimball on August 22, 1958. Wayne and Jeanene resided in East Millcreek and raised their 3 children Mark, Stephanie and Michelle.
Wayne was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he was a devoted scout master teaching the youth about the church, building kayaks and taking the scouts on many outdoor adventures.
Together Wayne and Jeanene built the successful bicycle business, Hyland Schwinn Cyclery, which had 4 locations in and around the Salt Lake Valley and Orem. Twice his stores were nationally ranked top 10 in Schwinn bicycle sales. For generations Salt Lake valley families have found their bicycling passions from visiting Wayne’s bike shop.
Wayne loved traveling with his family and close friends to Capistrano Beach in Southern California every year, spent countless time fishing and camping at Hebgen Lake in Montana, and enjoyed being poolside with his children and grandchildren. One of his favorite experiences was swimming with ocean turtles in Hawaii. Later in life Wayne and Jeanene built their second home near Hebgen Lake in West Yellowstone where they enjoyed snowmobiling together.
Wayne had developed many talents such as picture developing/framing, sewing over 100 detailed counted cross-stitch projects, and creating many wood working masterpieces that are now treasured by his family.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Jeanene, and their three children Mark Goodman (Julie), Stephanie Havell (Chris), and Michelle Goodman. He will be fondly remembered by his 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, his sister Jackie Bartholemew (Richard) and other family and friends.
