Viola Cannon Woolley age 91 passed away at home in Salt Lake City. She was born July 4, 1919 in Escalante Utah to David Henry Cannon III and Susanna Elizabeth Wooley Cannon. She attended Dixie High School and LDS Business College. She married her sweetheart, Chester George Woolley, on November 17, 1938 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple. She served in various callings in the LDS church.
Viola had a deep love for her family and spent her life in service to them. Viola had a special gift of crocheting and crafting and made many items for her family and friends. She never turned anyone away from her kitchen table and her meals. She was famous for the cookies she made at Christmas time and always had extra cookies for the neighbors. Viola had a love of jigsaw puzzles and loved to sit around the table and visit while putting one together. She was an avid reader and exchanged her books with friends and family. She had a wonderful, quiet sense of humor and loved a good joke. Viola loved her aides who came during the week to assist her and keep her company. Thank you for your service to mom. Viola also loved the young men in her ward for their service in bringing her the sacrament each week.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, her son Max, and granddaughter Suzanne. She is survived by her children, Ora Mae Woolley, Kathryn Johnson (Mel), Mark Woolley (Mary), Georgia Donaldson, Debbie Nelson (Jerry), 22 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren with one coming soon, and 1 great great grandchild also coming in the near future.
Viewing will be at Gregson Ward 3153 S. 900 E. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 10:00 – 10: 45 a.m., with the funeral following at 11:00 a.m.
