Tyler James Ohkwali Robbins, loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on August 29th, 2024 after fighting courageously against Acute Myeloid Leukemia for 21 months. Tyler was born on November 30th, 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was adopted by his parents, Dave and Lisa Robbins at birth. He was welcomed into the family as the fourth child, and was then referred to as, Our Fourth Gift.
In Tyler’s sixteen and a half years, he earned his black belt in Taekwondo and loved playing lacrosse, baseball and flag football. Together with his family, he enjoyed hiking, golfing, swimming and every adventure they took. Tyler enjoyed countless amounts of sporting events by his favorite teams and had the privilege of traveling out of state multiple times to attend games. He loved the Utah Utes, LA Dodgers and Green Bay Packers. He had a love for video games, a passion for music and had the pleasure of attending several concerts. Tyler was a deep thinker, an avid researcher and was exceedingly knowledgeable, especially in the topic of history. Tyler was known for his impeccable style, wicked sense of humor and being the ultimate jokester. He was a thrill seeker, an adrenaline junkie and enjoyed watching true crime shows and scary movies. Tyler had an unwavering love for his friends. He was fiercely loyal and accepted everyone for exactly who they are. Tyler was incredibly thoughtful, truly selfless and had the kindest, most gentle soul. He comforted and put others first.
He was looking forward to getting his drivers license and his first car, a Honda Civic. He had plans to travel, especially to Japan, to go to college and write a novel.
Because of his battle with Leukemia, Tyler aspired to be a therapist, with hopes to help children who struggle with the same battle he fought. Tyler was a proud member of the Oneida tribe, in Wisconsin. His middle name, Ohkwali, means bear. His heritage meant so much to him, he hoped to become an Oneida tribal council member.
Tyler loved and is loved deeply by his family as evident in these few memories.
His grandmother, Baw, loved hugs from her Little Heart. Taylor loved being his martial arts instructor and talking about military history. Kaeli loved her brother and sister dates and watching Tyler become an uncle for the first time to her children. Trace loved taking him on frequent gas station runs and listening to every new album together. His dad loved taking him on trips and teaching him how to drive a golf cart. His mom loved when she held him for the very first time, at birth, to holding him as he took his very last breath, on earth and every moment in between.
Tyler successfully beat Leukemia after a bone marrow transplant in August 2023, his Leukemia later returned in April 2024. Through it all, Tyler exemplified strength, courage and optimism. He never complained or wished his sickness upon someone else or questioned “Why Me?” Tyler was truly triumphant.
Tyler is survived by his parents, David and Lisa Robbins, brother Taylor (Raquel), sister Kaeli (Carson), brother Trace, nieces (Echo, Cove and Hayden), nephews (Woods and Tybrus) grandmother (Pat) grandfather (Gary) and his beloved dog Lambeau.
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers (Gaylen and Ron), grandmother (Mary), uncles (Lance and Scott).
Funeral services will be Friday September 6th, 2024 at 11:30 am at Grandeur Peak Ward, 3640 East Millstream Lane, Salt Lake City Utah, 84109. Viewings will be Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Millcreek Utah, 84106, and Friday from 10:00-11:00 am at Grandeur Peak Ward, prior to the service.
