Our loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, died December 22, 2022. Thomas was born May 31, 1935, to Dr. Thomas Edgar and Charlotte Parry Clark, in Park City, Utah. Thomas attended schools in Sandy and graduated from Jordan High School. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thomas served as a missionary in the West German mission from 1955-1958.
Thomas graduated from the University of Utah in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. While attending the U, Thomas met his sweetheart, Joan Laughlin. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 15, 1961. Thomas and Joan had four daughters and one son. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, were the joy of his life and he always enjoyed their visits.
Thomas was a dedicated father and worked hard to provide for his family. While working for Price Waterhouse in Los Angeles, California, he earned his C.P.A. license. Thomas was also licensed as a C.P.A. in Utah. He was Secretary/Treasurer for Wheeler Machinery, Co., for 31 years. Thomas taught his children a strong work ethic. He was always willing to help others by removing trees, fixing fences and doing other acts of service. Thomas loved working in his large garden behind his Holladay home and serving at the Jordan River Temple for 19 years. His beautiful wife, Joan, passed away from ovarian cancer in 2004.
Thomas married Bonnie Christian on May 5, 2005, in the Salt Lake Temple. Thomas and Bonnie were childhood friends who reconnected in their later years. Bonnie and her seven children were a great addition in his declining years.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children Cathleen Gilbert (Anthony), Colleen Peterson (Gordon), Carolyn Facer (Michael), Thomas Edward Clark (Kendra), and Cynthia Horne (Patrick); 15 grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Cundick; sisters-in-law, Janet Sloan, and Carole Nieman (Joseph); and seven step-children. Preceded in death by his wife, Joan Laughlin Clark; parents, Thomas Edgar and Charlotte Parry Clark; and sisters, Claudia Clark, Kathryn Mumford, Janice Jensen, Gwen Nielsen, and Carol Dunford.
The funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, at the Cottonwood 12th Ward, located at 1750 E. Spring Lane (5195 South), Holladay, Utah. Friends and family may visit Wednesday, December 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive, and on Thursday, December 29, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
