Stephen Davis Young passed away on Easter Morning April 21, 2019, due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Stephen was born July 26, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Dr. Vernon C Young and Elva Margaret Davis. His father was serving an LDS mission in England at that time. They did not meet until Stephen was 2 years old.
Stephen spent his childhood in Maryland and Boston while his father attended medical school. They moved to Vernal, Utah for several years. Finally, ending up in Salt Lake City. Stephen graduated from Olympus High School in 1966. Upon graduation he enlisted in the US Army. He served a tour in Vietnam. He then met his sweetheart, Jolene Folchi, they married in 1973. Together they had 3 children Jeffrey, Kellie, and Jennifer. Stephen spent his career in HVAC. He received two associate degrees in the HVAC trade at SLCC. He worked in his trade until 2005 when the disease won. He loved working and missed it daily until the end. He was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. He spent countless hours tickling and playing with his grandchildren. He will be missed.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Jolene Folchi Young. His children Jeffrey (Brooke) Young , Kellie (Brandon) Keller, Jennifer (Matthew) Swenson. His 12 Grandchildren that only knew him as “Baca”: Nickolas, Whitney, Kate, Laney, Cole, Hyrum, Lily, Iris, Elena, Emma, Oliver, and Luke. He is preceded in death by parents, and brother.
His funeral services will be held Friday April, 26 at 11 am. At the Veterans Memorial Center Chapel, 17111 So Camp Willaims Blvd, Bluffdale, Utah. Military Honors will be at 1pm. Condolences may be left at Wasatch Memorial Website.
