Scheree Elizabeth (DeRose) Wilcox

Scheree Elizabeth DeRose Wilcox passed away Wednesday morning November 15, 2023. Born November 7, 1947, she was the eldest child and only daughter of Willard and Elizabeth DeRose. Scheree was a devoted daughter. She graduated from South High School in 1966. Attended Business College before being employed with the State of Utah Oil and Gas Division and remained at this job for several years before being recruited by Amoco Production Company as a Staff Assistant. (Was married for 8 years during this time). Attended Westminster College – School of Professional Studies, graduated in 1986 as a Paralegal. She entered private practice with a Law Firm in SLC, before returning to government service with the Utah Attorney General’s - Financial Crimes Prosecution Office. She finished her career in this position earning numerous awards and the respect and admiration of colleagues. Retired in 2020.

Scheree was a lifelong Elvis fan, attending two live concerts, visiting Graceland, and collecting all his albums and movies. She loved to travel, traveling to Biloxi, Mississippi with the Natural Resources Commission (on the Governor’s plane), and to Hawaii with her Mother. She traveled to Florida, to Louisiana and went on various trips to California with family members. She loved to play the slots, enjoyed bowling, and at one time she golfed regularly.

Scheree absolutely loved her nieces and nephews and never missed their birthdays. Her nieces thought of her as a beautiful, iconic, and classy lady.

She is survived by three brothers, Robert DeRose (Carolyn), John Richard DeRose (Vickie), Raymond DeRose (Susan); Nephew, Justin; Nieces, Jennifer (Jay), Nicki, Dani (JD); and seven Grand Nephews and Nieces.

Her brothers and sisters-in-law consider her the glue that kept the family together after the passing of her parents. She will be greatly missed by all. Until we meet again.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, November 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wasatch Lawn Memorial Gardens, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah
