After 83 wonderful years of life, and a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, due to complications, dad passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
On June 10, 1957, a rainy Monday, Dick married the love of his life, Marlene Alice Speirs in the Salt Lake City Temple where they were married and sealed for time and all eternity. They were blessed with four beautiful children, Kenny Wardell (Karrie), Wayne Wardell (Jill), Sherry Jensen, and Saundra Marsh (Robert). 19 grandchildren & 26 great grandchildren.
Dick was a retired and respected Lieutenant for the Salt Lake County Fire Department. Dad spent many years as the talented owner, operator, and founder of Wardell Upholstery, where he worked to the age of 80. His life was one of service to others, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Dad spent hours, days, and months building the family cabin for everyone to enjoy. I think it is safe to say, our families have spent many wonderful times at the cabin and made memories to last a lifetime. Dad had a great love for the outdoors, fishing, and hunting with his family and friend’s.
Dad's greatest accomplishment was the love for his family and friends. Our family finds comfort in knowing dad is free from pain and he has started his next great adventure on the other side reuniting with his loved ones that passed before him. We can only imagine the wonderful celebration they must be having. Dick is proceeded in death by his parents and Sister Janet Burke (Ray).
