Pauline Janke Love rejoined the love of her life on October 22, 2022. She was born on October 23, 1927 in Salt Lake City to Paul Joseph and Erna Koplin Janke. She grew up near Trolley Square with the cars running in front of her home. She loved to ice skate at Liberty Park in the winter and play in her beautiful yard the rest of the year.
She graduated from East High and attended LDS Business College, then worked to help support her family. She married Marvin Earl Love on September 19, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple, and together they created a home that was like Heaven on Earth.
She taught her family to appreciate the beauty of nature with her love of the turquoise waters of Bear Lake, stunning fall leaves, and watching her beloved willow and plum trees out her bay window.
Pauline had a talent for making life-long friends, writing poetry, memorizing and telling stories, creating magical holidays and traditions, and giving unconditional love. She was able to make everyone feel like they were special, and everyone felt better after being with her.
She had a love of the temple and of serving others. Her favorite calling was teaching the Laurel class, where she influenced many with her faith and testimony. Pauline lived by her motto, “It will all work out,” because of her faith in our Savior Jesus Christ.
She had a gift of discerning if a potential spouse was “the one.” Children and grandchildren couldn’t wait to introduce her to potential spouses to see if she felt “the magic.” This contributed to her posterity of 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, with 5 more on the way.
For over 50 years, Pauline suffered with hearing loss and wanted to thank Dr. Shelton for helping her to be able to hear the birds sing and the voices of her grandchildren. A special thank you to Pauline’s daughter-in-law Niquie and granddaughter Jessie, who have been her caregivers, and gave her the gift of letting her stay in the home she loved.
Pauline is survived by her children Jeff (Niquie) Love, Douglas (Cherri) Love, Shauna (Steven) Meek, Becky (Aaron) Davis, Debra (Kevin) Hedin, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her sister Carolyn (Larry) Landward. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, three brothers, two sisters, and husband, Marvin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29 at 12:00 p.m. at the Millstream Ward (3400 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City, Utah). A viewing will be held prior to the service at 11:00-11:45 a.m, as well as Friday, October 28 at 6:00-7:30 p.m.
