Our wonderful and amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend Nicole “Nickie” Kristine (Prince) Cook was unexpectedly called home to the glory of Our Heavenly Father in the early hours of Saturday 9 September 2023.
While Nickie struggled with health issues over the last several years, she had fought hard and continued to improve her quality of living and was looking forward to a new lease on life. Her passing was not anticipated by either her medical professionals or family.
Nickie had two areas of her life in which she had tremendous pride; her family and her years in public service as a 911 Operator / Call Taker and Police Dispatcher.
Nickie is proceeded by her grandparents, Lawrence and Margaret Cowan and Arden and Shirlee Prince. She is survived by her parents Kenneth Prince and Kristine McStotts (Charles McStotts), a sister Noelle Clement and two nieces and a nephew, Margaret, Lucy and John Clement. Four half-siblings Andrew, Mary, Meghan and Jacob Prince. Three step-siblings Jennifer, Stephanie and Michelle McStotts. Husband Nick and three adult sons, Caysen and Nicholas Prince and Max Cook.
Nickie served for fifteen years with Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center where she left no stone unturned for the safety and welfare of her officers and the needs of the public. She was one of the amazing and heroic people who answered 911 calls from the public for everything from cats stuck in trees, violent crimes in progress to mothers who found their babies were not breathing, all in the same day, day after day. “Its their worst day, and our every day”.
Nickie was well-known by her friends and family as compassionate, empathetic, caring and amazingly creative. She proudly worked in recent years as an in-home care giver where she often became like family to her patients. Nickie saw the world as a blank canvas to which she would add her special creative touch and made common things beautiful and elegant.
Family and friends are devastated at the loss of such a wonderful and loving person whom we were privileged to know and to spend any time as part of her journey.
“…I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth…put out my hand and touched the face of God.”
