Newell Dunster Young, age 89, slipped away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family and was reunited with his daughter, Peggy; son, Scott; and great-grandson, Lukas. He was born on September 29, 1926 in Union (Midvale), Utah to William Penn and Berenice Dunster Young. He graduated from Jordan High school in 1945 and immediately served in the US Army. He married the love of his life, Joanne Strong, on April 12, 1948; and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on Jan 26, 1950. This week they celebrated 68 years of marriage. They were an example of love and commitment throughout their years together. They are the parents of four children: Peggy, deceased (Brent) Baker, Craig (Le), Scott, deceased, and Pam (Marv) Wagner. He is survived by his sweetheart, Joanne; and his sister, Joye deJong. They are the loving grandparents of 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. The siblings that welcomed him to heaven are: George (Helen), Lowell (LeOra), Tibby (Carlisle) Webb, and Mart deJong (brother-in-law). His family has been blessed by his cheerful, positive and loving example in their lives. As a member of the LDS Church he was a dedicated home teacher and served in various callings. He worked 46 years in the Automobile Service Industry, 12 years for The Fred A. Carleson Cadillac/Pontiac Dealership, 34 years for Bennett Ford and Rick Warner Ford, giving "The Best Of The Best" (Award) Service to his customers. Even at age 89, he enjoyed making his car the shiniest on the streets and also enjoyed working with Joanne in the yard, home, and spending time with family.
