Mary Sue Lyons was born October 14, 1950 to Lewis Tine and Mary Elizabeth Rollins in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She and her future husband Albert (Bert) Lyons met via mutual friends, and laid the groundwork for their family when they were married on August 7, 1970 and later sealed in the LDS Temple.
Anyone who knew Mary Sue, knew she was a strong woman in every sense of the word. She was an amazing example of strength, commitment, and perseverance to everyone lucky enough to be under her watchful wing. Time spent with family was Mary Sue’s top priority and she never missed out on a single outing or activity with her family. She loved to support and coach her children and grandchildren in all the activities they did. She was talented in her own right in athletics, art, sewing, spirituality, and beyond. All these talents made her a great leader, mentor, and entertainer in countless ways within her family, circle of friends, and in all her passionate service done via callings within the youth organizations of the LDS church. Whether it was watersports (ripping slalom skier), snow skiing, volleyball, golf, painting, drawing, or being an amazing seamstress, she excelled at everything she did, and shared those talents with everyone around her.
Mary Sue left behind a beautiful family in her husband Bert, her children, Jane (Trent), Adam (Meredith), Scott (Melissa), Amy (James), Greg, and Laura (Chase), brother Lewis W. (Joan), and her 22 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Preceded in death by her mother Mary, father Lewis, brother Scott, all of whom awaited her arrival in heaven. Mary Sue lived a beautiful life and touched the hearts of countless people, and her friendship, laughter, and wit will be greatly missed, but remembered fondly. You are free of the limitations of your physical body Mary Sue; we love you and goodbye until we meet again.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday April 17, 2024 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (3401 S Highland Drive) at 12:00 pm.
