Mary Jane Gainer

She was born on March 14, 1963, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City to Evan H. and Ruth Reese. Mary grew up in Evanston, Wyoming, and graduated from Evanston High School. She went on to attend Weber State University and Salt Lake Community College, earning her bachelor's degree in fashion design and Nursing. She later became a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and worked in occupational therapy at Holiday Healthcare and Mount Ogden Care Center.

Mary met her first husband, Thomas Gerrard, in 1983, and together they had three beautiful children: Jason, Rachelle, and Tyler. After their divorce, she met the love of her life, Philip Gainer, in 2010 while working at Mount Ogden Care Center. Mary and Phil were married in 2011 and shared a love of travel, especially their many trips to Yellowstone over the years.

She adored animals and enjoyed the company of their many pets, including German Shepherds, a Yellow Lab, a Lab/Blue Heeler mix, and two cats.

Above all, Mary loved being a grandma. She delighted in spoiling her grandchildren and attending their many activities—dance recitals, basketball games, and birthday parties brought her immense joy.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Phil Gainer; her children: Jason (Alisha) Gerrard, Rachelle Gerrard, Tyler (Ashley) Gerrard, Carissa (Keith) Olsen, Daniel Gainer, Bethany (Matt) Gainer, and Aubrey (Brennan) Loveless; and her beloved grandchildren: Aria, Lyra, Kora, Payton, Harrison, Trinity, London, Hailey, Landon, and Wesley.

She is also survived by her siblings: Lauren (Joe) Waldron, Tim (Pat) Reese, Elizabeth Reese, and Evan (Kristy) Reese, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Evan H. Reese and Ruth Reese.

Viewing services will be held on Friday, April 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary.

Viewing services will also be held on Saturday Aprile 19th at 12:00pm-12:45pm.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 19, at 1:00 pm, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary.
