Our dear Auntie Lo has left us. Her irrepressible spirit took flight Mar. 11, 2023 and went home to join parents and siblings who were waiting to greet her. She was born in Murray, Utah on Jun. 29, 1936, the second of six children born to Wallace and Ethel Messinger. She grew up in East Millcreek and graduated from Olympus High School. She worked for many years as a courier for Walker Bank and later for Wells Fargo.
Lois Ann loved life and was always up for an adventure, especially anything spontaneous. She was positive, fearless and outspoken. She had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, was a creative and artistic soul, and was always amazed at the wonders of nature. She had the gift of gab and could chat with just about anyone, charming them in no time. She was also a meticulous seamstress and an impressive baker. She blessed us with her foot rubs, the many "goodies" she baked us, and her sage advice—whether asked for or not. She was a second mother for her nieces and nephews who adored her.
She suffered for years from many physical ailments including diabetes, which she largely ignored. Despite pain and lack of mobility, she retained her great sense of humor and hopefulness, her distinct and direct opinions, and her enthusiasm for a good time. Her good company, generous heart, and unique cackle will be deeply missed.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Nola Hale, Judy Christenson, and David Messinger. She is survived by her sisters, Jean Deem and Susan Peterson. The family would especially like to thank her friends and neighbors at Spring Hollow for always being there for her and for the many years of service they gave her. They’d also like to thank her hospice aide, Laura, and nurse, Lori, who gave her excellent care for over a year, as well as the kind staff at the Wellington who provided daily assistance for the past six months. They would also like to recognize Dr. Greg Klomp for his caring and concern.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Mar. 18 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary chapel at 1:00 pm. 3401 Highland Dr. There will be a viewing an hour prior to the service at 12:00pm. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn.
