Larry Lincoln Luke passed away peacefully last Thursday evening in the comfort of his home at the age of 76. Larry was born in Price, Utah on November 26, 1947 to Lincoln LeRoy and Donna Lee Luke, and lived there during the early years of his life. His family, together with a youthful Larry, moved to Salt Lake City in 1959 where he attended Highland High School. In 1964 the family moved to California where Larry attended College and married. After a few years Larry and his growing family left California and moved to Salt Lake City.
Larry lived his dream as a truck driver. He drove two and a half million accident-free miles in his career, a fact of which he was extremely proud. The last 20 years of his career were spent with C R England as a Safety Manager, trying to help other drivers to drive as safely as he had. He served for many years as Chairman of the Utah State Truck Rodeo.
Larry was also an avid fisherman, a hunter, a father, a grandfather, great grandfather and a great friend to many. He served for many years as President of Salt Lake County Fish and Game Association. He loved fishing and at Scofield lake, a place he came to know as a young boy while living in Price, he purchased in 2002 his dream cabin on the lake, partially to achieve another of his dreams - to catch ‘Big Red’. While that dream regrettably escaped him in this life, Larry will undoubtedly achieve it in the next!
Larry is survived by his son David, his daughter Deann (Sug), and his grandchildren Brenden, Deven, Ethan, Brooke, and a great granddaughter Kiara.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Connie, his parents and his brother, Geary.
On Friday, November 22, 2024, a gathering and visitation will commence at 6 pm followed by a service and Celebration of Life at 7 pm all at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive in Millcreek, Utah.
Larry will be interred at a later date at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive in Millcreek, Utah.
