1926 ~ 2010
Kathe passed away September 2, 2010. She was born March 20, 1926 to Ernst Wutzig and Else Wagner Wutzig in Erfurt, Germany. She was raised in Erfurt with her brother Kurt. Her mother passed away two days after Kathes 13th birthday. Her brother was killed at eighteen in World War II. It was a rough life for her but she was strong. She worked as a seamstress in Germany. She married and had a son but later divorced. She married her husband Hans Paul Dieckmann, December 19, 1950. They were married fifty years before he passed away in 2001. They escaped from East Germany in 1954 and lived for two years in Betchtelsheim, Germany before immigrating to America in 1956. They lived and raised their children in the Sugar House area of Salt Lake City. Kathe worked at various jobs and finally retired from the O.C. Tanner Company in 1988 after 20 years of service with many friends. She loved traveling with her husband and friends. She loved animals and always had several. But her greatest joy, were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She gave them everything and she will be sorely missed. She is survived by her children Edgar (Nancy), Eleanore (Paul Curtis), Hans, and Ingrid, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 11 at 2:00 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
