1928 – 2022
With sorrow in our hearts, we wish to announce the passing of our dear mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend has slipped the bonds of earth to join her loved ones in heaven. She passed away peacefully in her sleep. She leaves behind 2 sons (Duncan and Bruce), 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
She lived a full life and traveled the world. She was born in Liverpool, England where she lived through the horrors of World War II. Often, she told stories of being bombed out of bed and how they wore pots and pans on their heads to protect themselves from shrapnel. During her teenage year she would often go on holiday throughout Great Britain riding her bike great distances to the shore into the hills. Her father was a Ship’s Captain in his Royal Majesty’s Service (HRM). She immigrated to the United States in 1949 at the age of 21 with only a $100.00 in her pocket. She settled in Salt Lake where she met and married Richard D. Lambert in 1951.
They had four children, Norvalee (deceased) Duncan, Bruce and Mark (deceased). She was an amazing mother and always made sure that her children had the opportunity to experience all that life had to offer. She was a kind and gracious lady who was very considerate of others. During her youth she had the opportunity to attend the London School of Design that she later used to develop and open her own interior design business. Throughout her business opportunities she was able to meet and develop many amazing clients around the world. Often on a design set up she would buy food and drinks for the guys who were working on site. They always referred to her as Joy Baby, which she loved. She always had her clients interests at heart and many to this day will tell you how she turned their house into a home.
In her later year she would always make sure that she was well dressed, and her make-up and hair were exquisite. She had the skin of an angel that gave her a very youthful appearance.
She is survived by her sons, two sisters Lynn in New Jersey, Brenda in New Zealand, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Daughter, Son, 3 Brothers (Roy, Henry and Duncan), Sister (Dee), Mother (Ethyl) and Father (WH - William Henry) and 2 daughters in law (Dawn and Carrie). She is now in the loving arms of her family that preceded her in death. We wish to thank Dr. Gottlieb and the Good Shepard Hospice staff and our dear family friend Toni Carter for all the loving care they gave to our loving mother. In lieu of flower please make a donation to the American Heart Association.
Services will be held Tuesday December 6, 2022 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Chapel located at 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah at 2:00 pm with a viewing one hour prior to the service. We would like to invite all of her close friends and family to join us in the celebration of her life. Mom may you Rest in Peace.
