"Tutu"
Together Again
Following a long, colorful, and fulfilling life, Jean Snow Clements Calvert, 89, ended her mortal life on Friday December 10, 2010 and reached her eternal destination in heaven. Jean's life began on April 14, 1921 in Los Angeles, CA where she was born to Dr. Thomas Earl and Anna Snow Clements.
Her education began in Park City, UT where she graduated from Park City High School with high honors in 1939, then Utah State University where she received her B.A. degree in English literature in 1943. After two years of teaching high school English in the mainland and Hawaii, she returned to SLC and began a distinguished career in public relations at Mountain Bell. She was a very popular speaker in Utah representing the telephone company.
Her marriage to Haydon Morgan "Cal" Calvert transformed her from career girl to wife and mother. Later, she became "Tutu" (grandmother in Hawaiian). Together Jean and Cal had many adventures exploring Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, China, the Bahamas, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and frequent trips back to Hawaii, just to name a few. Cal's appointments on financial boards also kept them traveling to meetings both inside and outside the banking world, visiting nearly every state in our nation.
Jean is leaving her close knit family to follow in her footsteps; her two daughters: Nancy (David) Studer, Ann Marie (Larry) Heinhold. Grandchildren: Mark (Anita) Lyndaker-Studer, Chris (Aimee) Studer, Tara (Mike) Calderon, Mike (Ronie) Heinhold, Ryan (Michelle) Heinhold, Dr. Stephanie Heinhold. Great grandchildren: Gatlin, Ben, Addison, Sara, Ayden, Carter. Brothers and sisters: Dr. Howard (Beth) Clements, Dr. Blaine (Jackie) Clements, Betty Lou (Col. Jimmy) Lassetter, Roger-deceased (Myra) Clements. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Cal, brother Roger, and her parents.
Jean's family would like to thank Home Instead and her caregivers: Kisha, Jesse, Cherilyn, Lexi, Julie, and Julia for all their compassionate care. We would also like to thank the skilled staff of IMC.
Services will be Friday December 17, 2010 at 12 Noon at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12 Noon. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
Jean was delighted to donate the beautiful pine tree in front of her home to Murray City for their annual Christmas tree this year which she was able to enjoy seeing lighted. Please stop by and take a moment to reflect in the spirit of the season and remember the precious gift Jean was to all of us. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to your favorite charity. Condolences may be sent to www.wasatchlawn.com .
