Helen Lou Price 85, was born on May 29, 1926 to Ada Duke and Louis C. Clark. She passed away Sept 29, 2011 from complications following a hip fracture and surgery. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. She was many things to each of us who knew her. A wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, co-worker, care giver, & teacher. But most of all, we know that she loved each and every one of us.
She began her life long career in food service at a very young age, typing and delivering menu’s to her Dad’s café “The Little Diner” at 154 East 2nd south in SLC before she went to school each morning. She was a very independent woman from an early age and knew how to take care of herself. She married young and had (2) sons later Divorced..At this time she was living with her mother and started working at the “Spudnuts Donut Shop” across from South High School. This is where she met the love of her life “Ben”. They married Nov 10 1948 (later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple Sept 27th 1963) and started their life together and had (4) more children. They became a seamless family unit.. they lived with her mother for a few more years and in 1955 bought their house on Commonwealth Ave where she lived for 52 years.
She started working at “Valora’s Ice Cream Palor” making and serving ice cream, and chocolate treats, she worked there for many years. She then worked at the University of Utah in the Union Ball Room, The Park Gazebo and the Sweet Shop until she retired, to take care of her mother until she passed away. Helen then went back to work for “Skool Lunch Downtown and later at Research Park at the UofU,” later it became the Red Onion, she worked there until she retired at the age of 82. At this time she moved into a condo in Murray Utah to live until her death.
Throughout her life she was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and served in many church callings.
She was proceed in death by her husband (Ben), her mother (Ada Duke), father (Louis C Clark) three sisters (Erma, Doris, & Norma) many aunts and uncles (1) grandson Holden & (1) great granddaughter Madison Mary
She is survived by (4) sons Louis (Penny), Draper, Richard, Greenriver Wyo, Gary (Laurie), Sandy, Lane (Jana), Bountiful & (2) daughters Wendy, Murray, & Lisa (Mike), Plano Texas, 23 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
