“I’m Not Sure”
George Pappas, 89, passed away May 15, 2011 in SLC, UT. He was born Sept 18, 1921 in SLC, UT to Gust Papadopulos and Eugenia K. Collias. George grew up on his family farm where he learned the value of hard work. He graduated from Granite high. He married Leila Cooley Wolff on June 30, 1967 in Murray UT. George was an active member of the Greek Orthodox community. He enjoyed being with his family and friends. He found great joy being out in nature and loved the west desert, mountains and wildlife. George started his own business venture opening the Sinclair Gas Station off the corner of 3300 S. & 300 W. where he cultivated friendships that would last throughout his lifetime. For many years George has helped ready the grounds for the annual Greek Festival.
George is survived by his wife Leila Pappas; daughter Pamela Day, stepsons Ed Wolff and Steve (Pat) Wolff; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings, with Georges’ death completing the circle. George was proud of his family – his wife Leila; daughter Pamela Day; grandsons Shane, Cory and Brandon Day; stepsons Ed Wolff and Steve (Pat) Wolff; his nieces and nephews; and his great nieces and nephews. They all want George to know that they are proud of him.
A visitation will be held Thurs. May 19, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive. SLC. Services will be Friday May 20, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. 279 S. 300 W. SLC.
