Douglas was the son of Dr. J. Floyd Cannon and Margaret Gardiner Cannon, preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary Alice Cannon. Survived by his brother Allan Cannon and sister Louise Cannon.
He attended East School, George Washington School of Medicine, in Washington D.C., and Brigham Young University where he earned a Master degree in Analytical Chemistry, with a Bachelor degree in Chemistry and Geology.
Received a Certificate of appreciation from Colonel John E. Lyten, USAF for his work on Air Force Technical Order to reduce or eliminate the use of Environmental Protection Agency 17, Air Force MAterial Command 24 and Ozone Depleting Compound usage.
Received certification from American Industrial Hygiene Association. Douglas edited, wrote and published documents concerning chemical safety aspect in the de-commissioning of Army Chemical Agents.
Douglas had a rich and full life thanks to his remarkable neighbors, Marc & Cathy- and their wonderful children, great friends, his "gym buddies" and his friends at his LDS ward.
Interment entrusted to Wasatch Lawn Mortuary & Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Millcreek UT 84106.
