Elizabeth B. York

"Aunt Betty" / "Grama" passed away June 14th 2013 in Salt Lake City. Born July 8th 1921 in Rock Island, IL to Harry F. and Lillian Rogers Blocklinger, Betty married William York in Salt Lake in 1953. Although she had no children of her own, she lovingly accepted into her heart and home Bill's daughters Diana Boyle (deceased) and Eileen Lyons; survived by son in law Robert Boyle (Dixie), and grandchildren Rob Boyle, Allison Smith (Zach), Mary Margaret Potter, Ryan Boyle ad Jeff Lyons. After losing her husband and sister Bernice O'Connor, she became a welcomed family companion to her brother in law, Thomas E. O'Connor and his children; Thomas O'Connor Jr. (Sue), Michael O'Connor (Suzy), Susan Vogeler (Doug) and Gretchen Moss (Dan). She was also preceded in death by her brother Jimmy. Betty spent most of her career as a "Fashionista" before it became fashionable ending her career with Castletons. She loved the industry, especially the buying trips, where she made many lifelong friends. She was a critic for many newspaper articles commenting on the latest fashion trends and appearing in them as well. She lived 50 years in the Millcreek area where her neighbors were like family to her. Thanks to everyone in her neighborhood who watched after her. Also, a special thanks to Canyon Creek for their loving care. Graveside services Tuesday, June 18 at Wasatch Lawn 3401 Highland Dr. at 2:30pm.
