Donna Rae Ungricht Dechter passed peacefully from this earthly life on Thursday, February 28, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on August 5, 1925 in Price, Utah to Daniel and Manilla Ungricht and lived for four years in the small mining town of Spring Canyon until her family moved to East Millcreek where she has lived for 83 years. In 1943 she attended a sorority dance at the University of Utah and met her eternal sweetheart, Irving P. Dechter, who was stationed in Salt Lake City with the 2nd Air Force. They were married on September 14, 1943 and their marriage with later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with three children, Lynnette (James) Turcsanski, Steven (Mary Alice), and Marsha (Kenneth) Whitehead. Donna was a woman who lived her life to the fullest and always fit in as much fun and good times as she possibly could. She was committed to her family and building strong relationships within it while she was here on Earth. She had a huge, generous warm heart and it will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. Her family would like to thank her friends in East Millcreek who have blessed her life and helped to watch over her these past several years so she could live independently in her home.
Donna is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, one brother, George P. Ungricht, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister Ona Mary and one brother, William Daniel.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 4th, 2013 at 11:00AM at East Millcreek 15th Ward, 3750 South Hillside Lane in Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, on Sunday March 3rd from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church.
