Donna S. Christensen died Friday, September 21 in Salt Lake City at the age of 91. Donna was born October 30, 1920 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Don Vernon Eugene Snyder and Pearl Sperry Snyder. She graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City in 1937 and earned a BS degree in Early Childhood Education from California State College, Hayward in 1971.
Donna married the love of her life, Leslie Dean Christensen on June 16, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Donna loved life. She loved her dear husband and their son David. She loved God and her Church. Shortly after the birth of their only son in 1947, the family moved to California where they lived until Dean passed away in 2002. Donna loved art and became a skilled painter. She wanted to help children with learning deficits, and in the 1970s, she returned to college to complete a degree in Early Childhood Education. Donna and Dean served as ordinance workers at the Oakland LDS Temple for 25 years. They also served as volunteers at the Oakland LDS Genealogy Library and they served missions at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City. Dean and Donna loved to travel and enjoyed tours of Europe, the Middle East, Mexico and South America, and they enjoyed many vacations in Hawaii. Following the death of her husband, Donna moved back to Utah to be closer to her brothers and sisters in Salt Lake City.
Donna is survived by her son, David L. Christensen, her brother, Conway "Bud" Snyder, and by her four sisters, Shirley Snyder Pratt, Jeanne Snyder Lindorff, Bonnie Snyder Bills and Joy Snyder Jensen. She had two grandchildren: Michael and Daniel Christensen.
