1920 ~ 2010
Our most beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and friend Donald Dean Causer passed away June 26, 2010. Don was born in Price, Utah, March 22, 1920, to John Causer and Ada Christiansen. Don married Molly Forbush, of Crisfield, MD in 1947. Our loving Mother preceded him in death.
Dad joined the Navy 17 April 1940 and retired from the Navy 20 June 1963 as a Navy pilot. He proudly served in the Pacific Theatre from the Aleutian Island Attu to the South Pacific. While in the Aleutians he became a member of the Empire Express making strikes against the Japanese Kuril Islands. Dad also served as a Combat Control Officer aboard the USS Hornet. He served our country well and impressed us often with heroic and brave stories from that time. Through these stories he inspired his family to cherish, respect and love the freedom he was so proud of ensuring for all of us.
They had two children, Pamela Dean and Donald Dean Jr. and one child (Gayle Loreman) from Molly’s previous marriage. Dad is survived by his daughter, Pam, son, Dean, Sister, Ilene McKenna, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
After retiring from the Navy, Don enjoyed an active life as Sales Manager at Commercial Plastics and playing a few rounds of golf in his spare time with his wife.
His sparkling eyes, quick smile, and kind heart endeared us to him and will never be forgotten. Right away you couldn’t help but be drawn to him as he was one of the most quick witted and handsome men most people have ever seen. His tall frame, commanding air and thick silver hair were remarkable. He loved his family and friends dearly and was always the voice of reason for anyone who needed sound advice.
A viewing will be held Friday, July 2 at 10:00 a.m. to be followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (3401 Highland Dr. SLC). In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations, in memory of Don, to the Humane Society of Utah, PO Box 573659, Murray, UT 84157-3659
