The family would like to thank Atlas Homecare & Hospice, especially Ariel and Aaliyah, and Fresenius Kidney Care for the continued care over the last few years.
David was born of goodly parents, John David Ekstein and Dorlene Jeanette Wyatt on June 12, 1951 in Boise, ID. He married his hunting partner for life, Dorene Kay Nelson "Doe" on March 23, 1984 and they were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple for time and all eternity on May 18, 1996. Together, they have two amazing children, Danielle Kay Geddes (Jay) and Zachery Taylor Ekstein (Amelia). He cherished his grandchildren, Jaxon, Andi, Ollie, and two miracle twins expected soon!
As a Navy brat, David moved around a lot as a kid. After breaking arms and hearts he finally found his home in Sandy, UT. He worked for Jordan/Canyons School District as a Head Custodian, where he trained and valiantly supported more than half of the previous custodial staff and their careers. He always had their backs.
He loved serving the Lord as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He enjoyed woodburning, hunting, camping, fishing, dutch oven cooking, shooting, and anything to do with the outdoors, especially when he was with his family and friends.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 5:30 PM-8:30 PM at the Flint Drive Chapel, located at 9824 Flint Dr. Sandy, UT 84094.
A private graveside service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to provide support. You can also donate to the National Kidney Foundation of Utah or the American Diabetes Foundation.
