David Norman Ebbert died Sunday, June 2, 2024, at age ninety-one of causes incident to age in Bountiful, Utah. He was born June 30, 1932, in Mansfield, Ohio, the youngest of five boys, and he graduated from Mansfield High School in 1951.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1951 and served in the Korean War. He married Shirley Honey and had two children, Debi and Michael, before divorcing. He then married Eula King in 1959 in Denver, Colorado, and adopted her three children, Paul, Susan, and Ann.
In 1965, they moved to Guam for his position in the Air Force. The following year, the family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he remained a devout member of the Church ever since. They moved to Nebraska for a few years before finally moving to Utah, where he and Eula lived in Holladay, Millcreek, Centerville, and Bountiful throughout their lives.
From 1997 to 1998, he and Eula served a mission to Samoa. They also served two other missions locally in the Salt Lake Valley, and he served as a bishop in the Holladay Fifteenth Ward and the Millcreek Second Ward.
David enjoyed golfing, attending BYU football games, and sharing his pool, ice cream, and sense of humor with his family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents and brothers. He is survived by his wife, Eula; his five children, Debi (Rick) Gildersleeve, Michael (Earllyn) Ebbert, Paul (Nancy) Ebbert, Susan Thompson, and Ann (Rick) Melville; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at The Latter-day Saint meetinghouse at 1250 S. Main Street, Bountiful, on Friday, June 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, June 8, from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. The funeral will be at the same address on Saturday, June 8, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City.
