David Roy Blake July 29, 1946 – November 6, 2023, First son of Grant Ernest Blake and Inez Ledell Bullock in Provo, UT. He married Shanna Wray Hackett on Sept 19, 1987, in Salt Lake City UT. Shanna passed away on Dec 18, 1995. He missed her deeply during the ensuing years.
David served in the US Army, Korea, receiving an honorable discharge in 1970. He studied history at Ricks College and Brigham Young University. He worked as a clerk for the Rock Island Railroad for several years, stationed in Illinois. Later he worked for the US Postal Service as a clerk in Salt Lake City UT. He retired in 2006, subsequently moving to Rigby and Rexburg ID. David enjoyed playing golf in his younger years, and computer gaming and reading during his retirement years. During his lifetime, David lived in Utah, Maryland, Wisconsin, Iowa, Korea, Illinois, and Idaho. He found new adventures in each new area he lived in.
David was preceded in death by his father, Grant Blake, and Shanna Wray Hackett, wife. He is survived by his mother, Inez Ledell Bullock Blake, siblings Glenn (Valerie) Blake, Linda (Mark) Cornwall, Arlene (Duane) Call, and Gary (Kathy) Blake, many nieces, and nephews.
Graveside service to celebrate his life will be held indoors on December 16th at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Mortuary on 3401 Highland Dr, Salt Lake City, UT, at 1:00 p.m.
Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
