Carol Ann Secrist Whittaker, 79, passed away July 21st, 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah and is now reunited with her husband, Paul. She was born in Brigham City, on August 21, 1943 to Dale and Doris Secrist. She moved to Salt Lake as a young girl and attended Highland High School. As a young adult, she briefly worked at her Father’s business, Dale’s Deluxe Dry Cleaners. After high school, she completed a Bachelor’s of Arts degree at the University of Utah with an emphasis in Home Economics. Carol Ann was sealed to her sweetheart Paul William Whittaker on August 31, 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple. After marrying Paul, she followed her ambitions, became a full time home maker, and raised her four children as a stay-at-home mom. After her children had grown, she also worked at a dentist office and later as a data entry clerk. Throughout the years she served in many church positions and served an inner city mission with her husband. Carol Ann was an accomplished singer and sang soprano with many choirs including the American West Choir, and many regional church choirs, including select choirs for temple dedications and conferences. Her remarkable voice was easily recognized and she was sought out to help uplift many singing groups she performed with. Carol Ann also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and traveling the world with her husband. Her acts of service, beautiful voice, and sense of humor will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, Shawn (Mary), Scott (Joie), Ann Marie (Jesse) Hennefer, Ryan (Sally), her sisters, Kay Jones (Darrell), and Jan Buss (Steve), as well as 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul, her parents Dale and Doris, and brother in law, Steve Buss. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 27th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Little Cottonwood 9th Ward (1160 E Vine Street). A viewing will be held Wednesday the 26th, 6-8 p.m. at the chapel.
